Abstract
To highlight unique research opportunities for students in the Sonoran Desert, the Arizona Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies presents our first Special Feature section. Founded by the Confluencenter for Creative Inquiry in 2019, Fronteridades: Nurturing Collaborative Intersections in the U.S.–Mexico Border is an interdisciplinary initiative that deepens understanding of the border region through research, storytelling, community engagement, and creative inquiry. In 2024, Fronteridades launched its undergraduate internship program, pairing students with local nonprofit and grassroots organizations on projects that advance knowledge of the U.S.–Mexico border and support communities across the region.
