Abstract
Automatic adjustment clauses permit most electric utilities in the United States to increase their rates with minimal review by regulatory commissions. Although utility customers traditionally have not been afforded due process protections in ratemaking proceedings, this Note explores the expansion of constitutional safeguards in order to prevent abuses in the use of automatic adjustment clauses.
