Abstract
Professor Shipley summarizes the history of the performance right in copyright law. He analyzes the impact of the 1976 Copyright Act, and concludes that the 1976 Act provides reasonably clear guidelines regarding ways in which copyrighted works can be publicly performed or exhibited without infringing on the rights of the authors or copyright holders.
