Abstract

Dave Peterson reviews the Brooklyn Academy of Music's (BAM) production of The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window. This play was written by Lorraine Hansberry. The revival was directed by Anne Kauffman. The production dates were February 23, 2023 - March 24, 2023. Peterson examines how Kauffman visually teased out the major themes in the play. He highlights how the performances contributed to a nuanced current sociopolitical and culturally relevant understanding of one of Hansberry's less-produced works.
