Abstract
An analysis of the institutional forces acting on Mexican mining policy. The writer examines socioeconomic demands that led to Mexicanization, appraises the political process that perceived and implemented it, and evaluates the effects of the law on the Mexican mining industry. He also suggests an overall approach to be used in analyzing the effectiveness of developing legal institutions.
