Privacy and Public Funding: Maher v. Roe as the Interaction of Roe v. Wade and Dandridge v. Williams

Abstract

The author examines the question of government subsidization of abortions. The principles of due process and equal protection are explored to determine if funding is constitutionally mandated. By taking account of the fiscal limitations of the state and the controversial nature of the question, a recommendation against state funding is offered.
