Abstract
In 1974 the Arizona legislature enacted the Mental Health Services Act, a complete revision of Arizona statutory law regarding the civil commitment of the mentally disordered. In this article the authors explain the major provisions of the Act, discuss problems in the scope and operation, and examine an array of proposed amendments designed to smooth some of the Act's rough edges.
