Abstract
A critical workplace issue is the serious conflict between work and family responsibilities. This article argues that nothing less than a major restructuring of the workplace is necessary to deal with that conflict. Essential to that restructuring is the way we think about work and family, as well as the parameters of a restructured workplace. The article sets out an analytical framework for thinking about work and family, and a beginning vision of a restructured workplace.
